  1. Hi there, just been flicking through some movies that, indeed, I have never heard of, and have had a good laugh.

I just wanted to share that in my local HMV store on the movie floor there are several dvds in yellow cases. These yellow cases all contain movies that are a strange concoction of bad horror plots, ketchup-like effects and large portions of porn.

Every time we go in for a laugh to see if any have shifted (which they never have) and one film in particular is memorable for me…

It is called ”Torso” with the tasteful tag line of ‘When Whores Meet Saws” – and that lays the plot on a platter. The movie stills on the back cover range from nude scenes, to ketchup smothered ”actresses”. Oh that stuff does make me chuckle!

      Hi thisismynoise

The range of yellow dvd case is probably a bunch of Giuliano movies. These are essentially Italian movies, some set in Italy, some in the US with Italian actors dubbed into English. Some of them have the most amazing titles. And yes you are spot on, they are a mix of fairly explicit violence (lots of bright red violence) and porn! Giuliano movies are always worth a watch if you get the chance.

  2. Hi there. This is James Gilks (owner of SerialKillerCalendar.com and MadHatterDesign.net). I recently started a new blog site called “VHS WASTELAND.” Right now I am trying to improve the sites search engine ranking by swapping links with other websites. Would you be interested in a banner swap? It would help both our site’s search engine rankings and I would be happy to design you a banner if you do not already have one.

You can take a look at the site at http://serialkillercalendar.com/VHSWASTELAND

Thanks. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Hudson Horror Show is announcing the addition of a 6th Bonus Mystery Movie to our December to Dismember event! Hudson Horror Show IV: The December to Dismember will be on December 3rd, 2011 at Silver Cinemas South Hills 8 in Poughkeepsie, NY.Our lineup features a double headlining shock show of Tobe Hooper’s original masterpiece THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE plus the banned from movie theaters Christmas classic SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT.

We’ll also have the rarely seen revenge flick ROLLING THUNDER alongside Lucio Fulci’s zombie haunted house opus, THE BEYOND. We needed something spicy to add to our mix so we present a little Spanish horror with Paul Nachy’s ultimate grudge match WEREWOLF vs. VAMPIRE WOMAN.

Now on top of the usual trailers and assorted madness we are including a 6th MYSTERY BONUS MOVIE! Could it be an eighties slasher movie? How about some giant monsters? An Italian giallo? Anything is possible; you will want to be at the show to find out! This bonus movie is a thank you to all our loyal patrons for supporting Hudson Horror Show for the past two years.

Tickets are on sale now and going fast. Get your tickets now!

Advance tickets are only $26.00 for six movies! If tickets remain, we’ll have them at the door the day of the show for $30.00, cash only.

You’ll definitely want to bring extra cash as we’ll have vendors at the show selling horror movie related DVD’s, t-shirts, posters, toys and much more. If you have any questions, or are interested in being a vendor, shoot us an email at info@hudsonhorror.com.

The doors will open at noon on December 3rd and we’ll somehow shoehorn six great movies, along with vintage drive in style trailers, all off 35mm film. Watch our website http://www.hudsonhorror.com for exact show times and more info in the coming weeks.

    Hi,

My indie film group Fighting Owl Films is planning a new short film project titled Night of the Krampus, a holiday adventure that explores the legend of Krampus, Santa’s demonic sidekick. Fighting Owl Films has produced several shorts since beginning in 2007, in addition to a feature film in 2010 that received North American DVD distribution through R-Squared Films. We’ve launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise awareness and budgetary funds for the film, which we’re hoping to begin production on in December. We’re aiming for a $4,000 budget, which is our largest short film budget to date. The funds will be used to cover the costs of production and post-production. I’m really excited about the project! If you can help spread the word about the campaign, it would be greatly appreciated. We’re just trying to spread the campaign’s reach as best we can. Full details about the project can be viewed at http://www.indiegogo.com/krampusnight, where you’ll also find a copy of the promo poster by artist Jeff Bell. Thanks for your time and support. It’s greatly appreciated. A full press release is below.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Filmmakers to Raise Funding for Krampus Project

Independent filmmaking group Fighting Owl Films is planning a new short film project and needs your help to make it happen! Fighting Owl Films was founded in 2007 by Thomas Smith and, in addition to producing numerous short films in the intervening years, produced the feature film The Night Shift in 2010. The low-budget feature received favorable reviews from media outlets across the country, was named Best Fantasy Feature at Shockerfest International Film Festival and released on DVD by distributor R-Squared Films in October 2011. Since completing The Night Shift, the filmmakers have been busy producing C.U.P.I.D, a short romantic comedy currently in post-production.

The new film, Night of the Krampus, features a running time of around a half hour and revisits key characters from The Night Shift on a whole new adventure. The holiday-themed story delves into the mythology of Krampus, a legendary creature said to travel with Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. While Santa rewards the good girls and boys of the world, Krampus punishes the naughty. But that’s just a myth…or is it? When the naughty kids of a suburban neighborhood vanish in the weeks leading up to Christmas, evidence points to the creature’s existence. It’s up to supernatural investigators Rue Morgan, Claire Rennfield and Herbie West to solve the mystery, save the children and face-off against the deadly Krampus.

Writer/Director Thomas Smith is passionate about the project. He loves the characters created in The Night Shift and is anxious to revisit them and reunite with the actors who brought them to life. The germination of the project began with the Alpine legend of the Krampus. Since first learning of the myth many years ago, Smith has been fascinated by the creature, primarily because it represents such a dark side of what is perceived as a bright, festive and happy holiday season. “I’m excited to explore the Krampus folklore because it isn’t a creature that’s been done to death on film,” Smith said. “There are very few portrayals of Krampus in media, not to mention many people are unaware of the creature and its connection to the holiday season.” Smith hopes the film introduces the legend to a whole new audience. “And, if it encourages kids to be a little nicer, that’s just an added bonus!”

Smith hopes to raise funds for the film through crowdfunding website Indie GoGo, a Kickstarter-like site with greater flexibility. The short has been budgeted at $4,000, which covers the rental cost of high-definition camera gear, the creation of the Krampus creature suit and makeup, props, general costumes, on-set meals for cast and crew, and post-production work, including color correction, visual effects and sound design. The filmmaker hopes to reach the full goal for funding within the 45 day timeframe provided by Indie GoGo. After that time, the project page expires. However, if the full amount is not raised, the funds that are received will still go toward financing the project. Smith commented, “We’ll get as far as we can with what we raise, then try another funding effort to complete the next phase. Every little bit helps!” For those who support the project, several exciting rewards packages have been created as a way to thank patrons for their help. Whether people give a little or a lot, every cent is appreciated and we believe these packages show that.

The filmmakers understand that not everyone will be able to contribute, but that doesn’t mean they can’t still help. Spreading the word about the project, telling friends and family, posting about the project on websites or social media, is another great way to bring attention to the project and spread our reach.

Once funding is in place, Smith hopes to have the project in production by December of this year.

  7. Valley says:

A Welsh Horror Film With Bite

The debut feature from Welsh director Rhodri Jones is an independent horror film set in the Rhondda. A group of friends hiking through a forest to an illegal rave are set upon by demonic forces, raised by a satanic clan who are intent on bringing hell to the Valleys; plummeting the heavenly Welsh countryside into a nightmare of darkness and demons.

“I wanted to make a full on 80’s-style Blood Splattering gore film that holds that nostalgic feel that you can only get from those types of movies they used to make in the 80s” said the director. “My friends who read the script told me it read like Evil Dead on Steroids!”

The Art Director, Jodie Gibson, added “There is as little CGI in this film as possible. Rhodri just wanted blood, guts and all the effects actually on set for the actors to react to.”

The Associate producer, John R. Walker, whose credits include Deadtime and Cryingwolf, commented “I had one rule that Rhodri refused to let me break. He said every single cast and crew member had to be either Welsh or Welsh educated, or they’re simply not part of the project.”

The cast is led by Sam Bees, Ciara Flynn, Claudio Laurini, Laura Jeffs, Maria Todd, Harper Stephens, Darren Swain, Tony Gallagher, Katy Powles, Ben Bennet, Ashleigh Bull and John R. Walker
