.., ‘The Revenge of the Teenage Vixens from Outer Space’ (1986)
Teenager exploitation sci-fi b-movies have never been too far from the wish list of any quick-buck making producer. In the 50s they were beat generation kids battling creatures, in the 60s the kids and the beasts moved to the beach for some swinging parties, and in the 80s many moved to collage and the boobies came out. The 80s cycle were sort of parodies of there own genre; the titles got longer, the situations more excessively silly, and the girls far more naked. These films celebrated and embraced their trashiness. ‘The Revenge of the Teenage Vixens from Outer Space’ fits the bill in so much that the setup is joyously elaborate: Teenage girls from an all-female planet come to earth looking for horny man-teens only to come up against competition from equally man-craving terrestrial girls. Unlike‘Sorority Babes in the Slime Bowl Bowl-O-Rama’ (1988), for example, this film doesn’t know how to be a ‘bad movie’, making it an actual bad movie. Saying that you do get some hilarious stuff including the vixens turning people into a selection of badly realised vegetables and an even weirder Loony Tunes style abrupt ending that parody’s ‘The Wizard of Oz’ for reasons that will remain a mystery along with Roswell, The Lost City of Gold, and McFish Sandwiches.
